Q: What is a ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid that hardens on your vehicles paint. Think of it as an additional layer of clear coat with added benefits like hydrophobia and gloss.

At Supreme Finish we install a State-of-the-Art ceramic coating from world renowned manufacturer System-X. This coating is proven to provide the highest levels of gloss and protection available.

Q: Will it stop scratches or rock chips?

Yes. It makes salt stick less and wash off easier. We find that many drivers in Raleigh don’t understand the benefit of ceramic coating until their car starts showing signs of rust from road salt. Our recommendation, is don’t wait on ceramic coating. The sooner the better!

Q: Does it help with winter salt and rust?

No. It may cut down light swirl marks from washing. For rock chips you need paint protection film, which we offer here at Supreme Finish.

Paint protection film is very popular with drivers of performance vehicle or those who drive above average mileage.

Q: Do I still need to wash the car?

Yes. Wash by hand with gentle soap and clean mitts. Avoid brush tunnels that can scratch. The Supreme Team put together a helpful article on how to wash a car with ceramic coating available.

If you want your car washed professionally, we also offer this as a service or consider one of our Supreme VIP plans that offers monthly exterior and interior detailing at significantly discounted rates.

Q: Do I need paint correction first?

Usually. The coating locks in how the paint looks. Polishing first makes the finish clearer and glossier. If your car is brand new, then paint correction is typically not needed. You would be surprised by the number of new vehicles we see that still require some level of paint correction.

Q: How long does it last?

Several years with good care. Your washing habits, storage, and climate matter. Before you leave our shop, we will make sure you have a full understanding of how to properly care for your ceramic coated vehicle.

Q: What about water spots, bugs, & bird droppings?

They come off easier, but do not wait. Remove them quickly to avoid stains. After a long road-trip, your car might have more than a “few” bugs on it. We recommend you bring it to our shop for a professional wash and cleaning!

Q: What can be coated?

Paint is most common. Wheels, trim, glass, and many wraps and even PPF can be coated too.

Read our article on why you should ceramic coat your wheels.

Q: Is there a warranty or record?

The System-X coatings we offer include a warranty and can also be registered with Car Fax. Ceramic coating is considered an upgrade and helps preserve your vehicles value overtime.
