Toyota FJ Cruiser Restoration
The Supreme Team recently completed a full restoration on this 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser, bringing new life back to one of Toyota’s most recognizable off-road SUVs.
Years of road grime, UV exposure, swirl marks, and faded trim had started to take their toll on this Army Green example. The owner wanted to restore its appearance while preserving everything that makes the FJ unique.
For this project, we performed our Perfecto Restoration Package, including a thorough exterior decontamination, multi-stage paint correction, trim restoration, and professional paint protection.

Did You Know?
The FJ Cruiser shares components and influences with vehicles such as the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Hilux, and Tacoma. This helped give it the durability and off-road capability Toyota is known for around the world.
Restoring Years of Wear
Every restoration starts with creating the cleanest possible surface. We began with a careful two-bucket hand wash followed by scratch-free drying to safely remove dirt and debris.
Next came clay bar treatment and Iron-X decontamination to eliminate embedded contaminants, brake dust, and industrial fallout that regular washing can leave behind.
Proper decontamination is important because polishing a contaminated surface can drag embedded particles across the paint and create additional defects.
Multi-Stage Paint Correction
Like many vehicles that have seen years of regular use, this FJ Cruiser had accumulated swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and dullness across the finish.
Using a multi-stage machine polishing process, the Supreme Team carefully restored clarity while dramatically improving gloss and depth. The Army Green paint regained its rich appearance, and reflections became noticeably sharper.
Professional paint correction removes or reduces visible defects in the clear coat, helping the finish look cleaner, deeper, and closer to its original condition.
Bringing the Trim Back to Life
One of the FJ Cruiser’s defining design features is its large black fender flares, bumpers, mirrors, and exterior trim.
Years of exposure to Raleigh’s heat and strong UV rays can leave these exterior plastics faded, gray, and chalky. That faded trim can make the entire vehicle look older, even when the paint is still in good condition.
Our trim restoration process brought back the deeper black appearance, creating a sharper contrast against the Army Green paint and giving the SUV a cleaner, more complete finish.
Long-Lasting Paint Protection
Once the paint correction was complete, we applied a professional-grade paint sealant to help protect the restored finish.
The sealant provides several benefits:
- Increased gloss and surface slickness
- Protection from UV exposure
- Improved water repellency
- Easier routine washing
- Protection against road grime and environmental contaminants

Many FJ Cruisers were equipped with water-resistant seating materials and rubberized flooring. These practical features made it easier for owners to clean up mud, sand, dirt, and water after outdoor adventures.
Final Results on this 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser
By the time the restoration was complete, this 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser looked years younger.
The Army Green paint had regained its depth and clarity. The restored black trim framed the body properly again, and the paint protection added gloss while helping preserve the corrected finish.
This project shows how exterior decontamination, paint correction, trim restoration, and professional protection can work together to transform an older vehicle without taking away its original character.
