James Bond 007 Ford Thunderbird
This week the Supreme team worked on a rare 2003 Ford Thunderbird James Bond Edition. With its Coral paint and 007 badging, this car is a collector piece and a tribute to the James Bond franchise.
Only 700 of these special edition Thunderbirds were produced, created to celebrate the Thunderbird’s appearance in the Bond world when Halle Berry’s character Jinx drove one in Die Another Day.
Restoring a Bond-Worthy Finish
This Thunderbird came in with the wear you see on a vehicle that has been driven and enjoyed. On a color like this, clarity matters. When the paint is dialed in, the finish looks richer, smoother, and more reflective.
We started with a wash using hand-wash methods to remove loose dirt without adding new marring. From there, we performed a clay-bar treatment and Iron X decontamination to remove contaminants.
2-Step Paint Correction
After decontamination, we moved into a 2-step paint correction. The first step focuses on defect removal. This is where we tackle swirls, light scratches, and oxidation that cloud the finish.
The second step refines the surface, restoring clarity and tightening reflections so the paint looks crisp. The goal for this Thunderbird was to bring the Coral paint back to life so it looks smooth, deep, and reflective.
6-Year System X Ceramic Coating
Once the paint was corrected, we applied a 6-year System-X ceramic coating to lock in the gloss and protect the finish from UV exposure, contaminants, and everyday wear.
Ceramic coating adds a durable, slick layer on top of the clear coat that makes the vehicle easier to maintain and helps it stay cleaner between washes.
On a collector vehicle like this, the coating also helps preserve the work that went into the paint correction. It keeps the finish protected, reduces how much grime sticks, and lowers the risk of wash-induced marring when the vehicle is maintained properly.
